Veronica Bonilla-Lopez has lived in Melrose Park for nearly sixteen years. She has been a board member of the Board of Education for Maywood-Melrose Park-Broadview School District 89 since 2011 and is the current President. Public service has been central in her personal life, and career. Veronica is an attorney and worked as a criminal prosecutor for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office after graduating law school. She continues her public interest work by representing public sector clients.  As a first-generation college graduate in a Guatemalan-Mexican household, Veronica understands that education is vital to thrive, and educators are an essential component for success; which is why Veronica is honored to serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the District 89 Education Foundation.
